Education quotes of Interest

“The only thing that interferes with my learning is my education.” –  —  Albert Einstein

Learning and education used to go hand in hand, or at least that is how I thought of it.  I never would think that I would be able to sit in a classroom and be able to recognize flaws in the system.  Flaw that have effected me.  I learn more outside the classroom, I learn more by typing in something and exploring Google.  So how is it now that we combine learning with education?  Is it possible to prove Einstein wrong?  The answer may be with technology.

“Never regard your study as a duty, but as the enviable opportunity to learn to know the liberating influence of beauty in the realm of spirit for your own personal joy and to the profit of the community to which your later work belongs.” –  —  Albert Einstein

Does the ability then to hop onto a computer give students this opportunity to learn?  Can the resources that the internet offers (when used correctly) provide something that schools are missing?

“A child miseducated is a child lost.” –  —  John F. Kennedy

Are the national high stakes test taking the focus off of learning and put on the wrong material.  This is not meant to create a debate for the national standards test that is coming, because that is a whole nothing issue, but how does filling in bubbles translate to the real world?  When will I fill in bubbles again?

“It is a miracle that curiosity survives formal education.” –  —  Albert Einstein

The element of standardized tests limits students to creativity.  If the creativity is gone, where is the innovation for the future?

“Education is the ability to listen to almost anything without losing your temper or your self-confidence.”–  —  Robert Frost

The clip to the movie, “Waiting for Superman,”  is something to lose a temper over.  We are failing our students, and that is not something easy to hear.
